Building Trust for the Common Good
Olocus is a Community Interest Company committed to creating trust infrastructure that benefits society, not shareholders. Our technology belongs to the community we serve.
What is a Community Interest Company?
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a special type of limited company that exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. As a CIC, Olocus has legally binding commitments that ensure we always act in the public interest.
This means our profits are reinvested into improving the platform, reducing costs for users, and expanding access to trust infrastructure globally. We cannot be sold to the highest bidder or pivot to maximise shareholder returns at the expense of our users.
Our structure ensures that Olocus will always remain true to its mission: democratising trust for everyone.
Our Values
Community First
Every decision we make is evaluated on its benefit to our community. User welfare always comes before profit.
Open by Default
Our code is open source, our roadmap is public, and our community has a voice in our direction.
Privacy is Sacred
We will never compromise on privacy. Your data belongs to you, and we build technology that enforces this principle.
Equitable Access
Trust infrastructure should be accessible to everyone, regardless of economic status or geographic location.
Evidence-Based
We make decisions based on data and research, not hype or speculation. Transparency in our methods builds trust.
Sustainable Growth
We grow responsibly, ensuring long-term viability without exploiting users or burning through resources.
Our Mission
To create a world where trust is portable, verifiable, and owned by individuals—not corporations. We believe that by giving people control over their own reputation and verification data, we can reduce fraud, increase opportunity, and build more trustworthy digital interactions for everyone.
The Asset Lock
🔐 Permanent Protection
As a CIC, Olocus has an "asset lock" - a legal mechanism that permanently protects our assets for community benefit:
- Assets cannot be sold for private gain
- If Olocus ever closes, assets must transfer to another community organisation
- Profit distribution is capped by law
- Community benefit must be demonstrated annually
- Regular reporting to the CIC Regulator ensures accountability

Governance
Community-Led Direction
While our founding team provides initial direction, Olocus is designed to be governed by its community. As we grow, we'll implement democratic governance mechanisms that give users a voice in:
- • Protocol upgrades and feature prioritisation
- • Fee structures and economic parameters
- • Partnership decisions and integrations
- • Community fund allocation
- • Ethical guidelines and platform policies
This transition to community governance will happen gradually, ensuring stability whilst empowering our users to shape the future of trust infrastructure.
Our Vision for the Future
We envision a world where trust isn't controlled by corporations or compromised by bots—a world where every individual owns their digital identity, reputation, and story. In our future, the internet serves people, not platforms, and technology empowers rather than exploits.
By 2031, we aim to have 2-5 million users building genuine, verifiable trust networks that reduce global fraud by 5-8%. We're creating an internet where privacy isn't a trade-off but a foundation, where trust is earned through real connections, and where your digital life truly belongs to you.
